From an early age, I was always behind a camera. I grew up creating short films for fun with neighborhood friends during the summers. Those early childhood experiences shaped my love for the art of storytelling. My passion for filmmaking carried into college where I studied video production with minors in business & writing.

In May of 2015, I experienced the other side of the camera when I married the love of my life, Meredith. We currently live in Greenville, SC. While we were engaged, Mer moved here to be a part of NewSpring Church and I followed shortly after. We both love the Lord and are excited for the opportunity to show others the love & beauty of Christ through storytelling!
After graduating in May of 2012, I launched Matt Rouse Films and signed my first wedding video contract. I create films for a variety of vendors, but specialize in wedding productions. Having filmed many weddings since 2012, my team is well-seasoned when it comes to capturing weddings.
After falling in love with my wife, I know what a special and life-changing moment it is when God brings two people together forever. The process of capturing memories, working with light & colors, finding the right songs, and piecing together meaningful sequences never gets old. It’s an amazing experience to see all those elements come together to create an immersive film experience! It's a privilege to witness that remarkable commitment of love.
Chipotle is the best!! You can often find Mer and I at Chipotle for weekend lunches destroying tacos or chicken burrito bowls. If I could, I would probably eat a chicken burrito bowl every day. They are that good! Hot salsa and corn salsa are musts. Quick tip: Instead of using a fork to eat your burrito bowl, use chips. You'll thank me later!

I generally have at least one cup of good, old-fashioned, Earl Grey tea every day. Instead of 5-Hour Energy, just pop a mug of Earl Grey in the microwave. It works like a charm to ward off that 2:30 feeling! Bigelow brand is the best! From time-to-time I will do the green tea thing, but for now Earl Grey definitely wins my tea of the year award!
I love restaurants that feel like hole-in-the-wall establishments; the kind of places we often just drive by without giving it a second thought. Sometimes those places surprise you! If you live in Greenville, check out Northwest Grill. The building looks run down, but the food is on point! The head cook there calls himself the "Burgerologist" for good reason.
I grew up going to the beach every summer in Swansboro, NC! It's a quaint town made up of historic homes, boutiques and amazing little restaurants. Mer and her family spent every summer down on Hilton Head Island, so suffice it to say, the beach runs in our genes! There is literally nothing more relaxing for us than to spend time where the ocean meets the shore.
You can always find me following the USA team even through the World Cup qualifying process. I played soccer throughout high school and intramural soccer in college. There is something so beautiful about the game and the way it brings people around the world together. I can't wait for World Cup 2018! This could be our year to take the Cup!
